Racing: Season review
Here is the season review from Møller Bil Motorsport:
Season review 2009
The season is over and it's time to look back at 2009 for Møller Bil Motorsport and this years BFGoodrich Langstrecken Meisterschaft (VLN) at the Nürburgring.
After a learing year i 2008 with the new Audi TT 2,0 TFSI, Møller Bil Motorsport had high hopes before this season. We hoped to be among the top teams in the SP3T-class.
The season started well. In the first race in April we qualified third, just behind the team Raeder in an Audi A3 and Carlos Sainz in a factory-Scirocco. Both Raeder and Sainz hit trouble in the rain, and then we were in the lead. All was looking good, but then the front windscreen started to fog, and we had to pit. We finished third in class, but it could have been a victory.
The next race was the legendary 24 hour race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Again we qualified third, but after one hour we had problems with the steering. We lost some time in the pits but kept going and was the fastest car during the night. But after a crash at 4AM we had to retire.
Because of the crash in the 24 hour race we had to skip a race in june, but we were back at the Nürburgring in October. The qualifying started well when Atle Gulbrandsen did 09.01, but unfortuanately the enigne blew after our guest driver Peter Terting had his run.
A couple of weeks later we were back, and this time we took the lead. Håkon Schjærin drove very well and the lead was increasing. But suddenly the gearbox broke and we had to retire again.
So the results this year was not like planned, but we know about our problem, and that is the gearbox. So with a new gearbox for next season things looks good.
The season har been a success with sponsors and media. More than 100 guests have joined us for the races, and the media coverage in Norway has been good.
We have already started planning the next season, and more news will come shortly!
